History
 

1996 Englewood Fire Department becomes a possibility in the minds of Englewood Officials and citizens.
1997 Englewood hires its first Fire Chief - Elmer D. Bergman Jr. former Assistant Chief for the Randolph Township Fire Department

Englewood citizens vote against the formation of a joint fire district giving Englewood the right to form its own fire department

Construction begins on Station 99.  Built next to city service department at Union Rd. and
I-70

Englewood purchases a new ladder truck from E-One, a new medic from McCoy Miller, a used engine, and a used medic
1998 Fire and EMS service from the Englewood Fire Department begins January 1st, 1998
1999 Englewood's response times for 1998 remain well under the five minute promise

Englewood constructs 4 story fire training center behind Station 99
2000 Englewood purchases a new Smeal rescue engine to be placed in Station 98

Englewood donates old Pierce engine to Phillipsburg F.D.
2001 Englewood Purchases two new McCoy Miller medics

Englewood donates Medic 199 to Box 21 Rescue Squad
2002 Response times remain below five minutes for first the four years of operation

Englewood Purchases Gator Mini-Medic for use as at special events

2003 Englewood and Union F.D. responds on their 10,000th call

Construction begins on new firehouse to replace Station 98.  Will be built on the west side of the Englewood government center
2004 Previous Trench Rescue Vehicle is sold at city auction and new Trench/Collapse Rescue POD placed into service

New Quint ordered from Smeal. This will replace Engine 198 and be stationed at Station 99, The current Ladder 99 will be placed at station 98 leaving at least 1 Engine, 1 Quint, and 1 Medic at each station.
2005 After 47 Years of Service to the Englewood Community, RTFD Station #2 (Englewood Station 98) is retired

Crews move into new firehouse at Englewood Government Center 333 W. National Rd.
2006 Ron Fletcher promoted from Captain to Assistant Chief
2007 Retired Medic 198 (formally Medic 98 and 199) - Medic sent to service center for their use.

Placed a 2007 Horton Type III Medic in service as Medic 99
