Cadet Program

What is a cadet?

A Cadet is a High School Student Aged 14-18 interested in the Fire Service.

What does a Cadet Do?

A cadet has many opportunities.  A cadet is able to learn about the fire service.  They attended a training twice a month where they are in a classroom setting, as well as, outside doing some hands on practice.  Aside from the learning aspect, cadets are permitted to respond incidents to help out with basic outside of the danger services.  By doing this, it leaves the firefighters to do their work and not tie them up with time taking cleanup and other activities. It also gives a chance for the cadets to experience the job from a real aspect.

What is the Purpose of the Cadet Program?

This cadet program helps young people to experience this demanding job before they have to choose their career path.  It also helps the Fire Department with recruitment.  Many Cadets are the next generation of firefighters, and it supplies Englewood with good quality individuals that are competent at what they do.
